築後38年を経て老朽化が進んだ木造共同住宅の部分的な改修である。周囲は高齢化が急激に進む都市部の住宅地。2階建ての全8戸のうち、1階の連続する3戸の改修が施主の依頼であった。それらの条件に対し私たちは、各住戸の単なる改修 ではなく、界壁の一部をなくし集約した水廻りを設けた共同スペースと、3つの個室をもつシェアハウスへと変更し、その共同スペースを出来る限り地域に開く提案を行った。極めて小さな空間的実践だが、巷に溢れる「木賃アパート」というビルディングタイプが持続的な町づくりの手がかりとなることを確信している。

After 38 years of construction, the building has become obsolete and has been partially renovated.
The surrounding area is an urban residential area that is rapidly aging or rapidly advancing.Out of a total of eight 2-story units, three consecutive units on the first floor were renovated or requested by the owner.
In response to these conditions, we did not simply renovate each dwelling unit, but instead changed to a shared space with a part of the boundary wall and an integrated water area, and a shared house with three private rooms, to open as much as possible in the area. We are convinced that it will be a clue to the idea of ​​an extremely small spatial practice and a sustainable town called “Mokuchin Apartment”, which is full of streets.
